Post subject: Da Vinci Code
Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code has swept across the globe bringing with it a questioning of accounts previously taken as fact. . .the biblical teachings and doctrine of established religions. How has this book effected the way you look at Religion, and how if at all has it effected you personally?

christmas 2006: first on a light note: just finished watching the Vicar of Dibley Christmas and New Special (which is probably one of the funniest episodes of any sitcom i've seen in a long time.....) Alice (the nutty verger) is really loving reading the latest book in the Bible...The Da Vinci Code!! She thinks it is far more interesting than boring old Genesis... hahahhahahah And she has also cracked the code!!!! As Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene...and she was known as the Chalice....representing the Sacred Feminine/Goddess ....Alice realizes suddenly that SHE is, in fact, the last living direct descendant of Jesus and Mary....because: what name rhymes with CHALICE......well.... ALICE of course.... On a more serious note: i resisted reading Da Vinci Code for a long time. I thought it was just a piece of light fiction. But one day a good friend of mine told me that she had read it...............and she described that moment when the Last Supper is revealed... she pulled out this art book and showed me the painting and said, "Look! the peson sitting next to jesus DOES look like a woman!!!" I remember that moment really clearly!! The shock of finally seeing something that has been right in front of you for decades (centuries) and yet....still not really seeing it......... There seems to be alot that is hidden in our word: stuff that goes on behind closed doors (from governments to secret societies)....but how much is actually right in our faces and we fail to see?? I love how the Da Vinci Code has helped us to see many things that were right in front of us but we did not really see before.. It has actually helped to widen my perception of this reality. Once the symbols are explained (like the chalice and blade) ... you then begin to see them everywhere (like on masonic halls). Whether you believe in the symbolism or not (and i do)...the fact is that there are many, many people out there who not only believe in it but have allowed it to shape our world.
I dont necessarily agree with the entire book (but also cutting it some slack since it is only meant to be a piece of fiction afterall)....it has been made clear that certain parts of it are probably more to do with imagination than fact (i.e. the earlier existence of the Priory of Sion) but still, there are enough 'truths' in it for it to be of great significance... And to me the Chalice/Sacred Feminine...is not just about one woman (Mary Magdalene) and a bloodline.....but about an Energy that is within us all. Nevertheless.. the great success of the book perhaps suggests that the time has come for these ideas to be made known! I love it!!

Ditto! I loved it for it opened doorways and minds previously closed, and it brought in an energy of enquiring into what we have been told is true. It brought it home to me everything we read or are told needs to be filtered through our inner knowing. Millions have been misled throughout history and that I find sad indeed, more so that the perpetuation of mistruths and lies has many people locked into boxes of fear. The good news is that discussion brings in new and fresh insights and energy._________________Bright Blessings
